What does competition team look like at Esprit?
To give you a general overview of expectations at each level, we’ve provided the information below.
Your level placement will be determined by your desire and your abilitiy level. While you may choose a higher level, you may be placed in a lower level by the instructors. You are still welcomed and encouraged to attend any optional conventions even if not part of your requirement. If you are selected for a higher level than you would like to commit to, you may always decline the higher level.

- Required class and mandatory rehearsal one day a week and 1 mandatory weekend rehearsal a month
- One group routine for competition
- Will have several other recreational recital routines
- Three local required regional competitions (in Lakeland)
- Will perform competition routine and recreational routines in studio recitals
- No Nationals
- No summer requirements after recital (unless wanting to proceed to competition team)
- Lowest financial and time commitment
- Required Class and Mandatory Rehearsals two days a week and 2 weekend rehearsals a month leading up to competition season
- Up to three group competition routines – possibility of more depending on a variety of factors (# of routines affects price/time commitment)
- Three local required regional competitions (in Lakeland/Orlando)
- One local required convention
- Required community performances
- Will have some recital only routines in addition competition routines
- Will perform in studio recitals
- Nationals requirement for certain routines, every other year, with mandatory summer rehearsals – 24/25 is an “off” year, no nationals requirement.
- Required to enroll in summer pass and take summer class when you can make it.
- Solos may be offered to some dedicated dancers
- More serious dancers will be able to have more opportunties for elite level group dances, solos, extra events, duet/trios, traveling, conventions, special performance training, etc. Elite team will still be part of the main competition team for general purposes.
